Properly a very good arranged of Knee Pads is a Need to!!
Then a little hand shovel, (trowel rings a bell, not sure of the title).
A very good pair of clippers, (I would advise the ones from Sears, with the razor blade, it cuts beautifully!).
Probably a “large fork” to dig under neath vegetation.
A hoe, to just take out weeds among the flowers.
A huge “prong” to put in bulbs, (I have a single down stairs from my neighbor when he passed away, and its a risky searching thing, but, I dont know what its named precisely).
A 5 gallong bucket! for placing in all the equipment, and carrying them almost everywhere…
Watering can, if your heading to do it that way, or a drip hose, would be nicer..
Seeds and bulbs, for the acceptable occasions and zones.

I would say depending on what you plant. Maybe a small tiller jus to turn the soil if your gonna plant Veggies, A shovel to dig the hole or post hole diggers if your gonna plant plants. A garden rake ( the metal tined rake) that help after tilling the area. I use a hoe to make the rows and to cover up the seeds. Then after you have planted and watered and have new growth then you will need the hoe to help take care of the weeds. Also a lot of small hand tools help like a set of gardening tools small hoe and small rake and bulb planter ( like a little shovel) hope this helps. I wish you luck.
A hoe, a tiller, a garden rake, a garden hose, some clippers, and a small shovel, is all I’ve ever needed for a garden. If you don’t have a tiller and just a small space for a garden, a garden claw can be a good replacement.
Tomatoes, green beans, sweet corn, radishes, turnips, lettuce, rhubarb, cabbage, onions, and pepper plants are all pretty easy to grow.
All I have is a shovel (spade) and a leaf rake. My garden is small so I dug it myself, first cutting in a frame and then sectioning it into smaller chunks then removing the top of each chunk (remove the grass, and roots) Then with the patch of dirt dug it up real good, removing all rocks. Next buy some peat moss and sheep manure and mix it in real well. Use the leaf rake to smooth it down. Plant your seeds (I use wide rows…2ft across) to maximize my small space. I plant beans, snow peas, radish with swiss chard, 2 small hills of zucchinni and 2 tomatoe plants). Good luck.
